Ensight data API · version 1

Build on the numbers.

The figures on the data page, the published briefing and the glossary, as JSON, in English and Afaan Oromoo. Read-only, free, and held to the same rule as the paper: every figure carries a source and a period.

One item: /api/v1/news/{slug}, with its body. Lists take limit (1–100, default 20) and offset; the news list also category.

What every answer looks like

Text comes in both editions, { "en": …, "om": … }. Errors are { "version": 1, "error": { "status", "message" } } with the matching HTTP status. Lists also carry total, limit and offset. Answers may be cached for a minute; send If-None-Match with the ETag and an unchanged answer costs nothing.

The rules

• Credit. Quote with a link to https://ensightafrica.com and the words “Ensight”. Keep each figure’s source and period with it.
• Stable. Inside v1 no field is renamed or removed. Anything incompatible becomes v2, and v1 keeps answering beside it.
• Fair use. Up to 300 requests a minute from one address; past that the answer is 429 for a minute. For more, write to us.
• Only what is public. Published items and terms, and the data page. Nothing about readers, ever.
