Kurmuk Gold Mine, a subsidiary of Canada's Allied Gold, told the Ministry of Mines it expects its first pour during commissioning. The Benishangul Gumuz operation holds 2.7 million ounces of proven and probable reserves and targets 240,000 to 270,000 ounces in its first year. Of the 44.067 tonnes Ethiopia produced last year, 40.86 came from artisanal miners.
